Welcome to my blog! Here, I am going to be posting a mix of my own content that I create to share my experience as a college athlete; as well as other content from the internet that help me improve on a daily basis.

For my first post on my blog, I decided to link the video above because, after watching it, I can confirm it is packed with a ton of great plyometric exercises. My favorite thing about this video is that it provides a workout that can be done anywhere, with very minimal equipment needed. Plyometrics are a crucial aspect of soccer because being explosive on the field can determine whether one can reach the next level. The team lifts that we do here at Rutgers contain many of the same ideas as the youtube video.

The video above is from one of my favorite soccer YouTubers ever, Michael Lewis Cunningham. His account was one of the most useful tools for my friends and family growing up, as his in-depth videos of a wide variety of soccer drills can help anyone get better. We originally started using these videos during Covid in training sessions, as everyone was social distanced. This video specifically is extremely important, as a strong weak foot is one of the biggest things in soccer that can take someone from being good and make them great.

Although the moment above has nothing to do with soccer, as a sportsman, you have to be touched by Rory McIlroy’s win at the Masters today. This performance was the definition of perseverance and preparation, and showcases just how important the mental side of all sports are. With all momentum against him, immense pressure, and what looked to be like one of the greatest chokes in sports history; Rory still managed to keep his head together when it mattered most which is something that gains the respect of any athlete. Soccer is full of mentally challenging moments similar to this, such as taking an important penalty, or defending a win in the final minutes of a game. We can learn from this display of composure and apply it to our own sporting events.
